Key Moments in the History of LSC

1963 On March 11, 1963, the Meridian Township Planning Commission approves issuance of Special Use Permit to the Lansing Sailing Club for purposes of establishing a club house and boat launching facilities. The permit was issued for a period of five years.
1968

Double Ramp built.

Crash Boat purchased

Storage building built.

Hedge planted.

Limit of 50 boats reached and waiting list of new members for the first time.

1969

Purchased 2 pontoons for $350 and used motor with controls for approx $200.

Postal Box rental approved.

1975 Purchased portion of property, including a barn, on the northeast side of the Club property. This portion was irregularly shaped, 12' at the shoreline, 30' at the road that straightened the entire property line.
1978 A Permanent Special Use Permit is approved for LSC by the Meridian Township Planning Commission on June 5, 1978.
1984 Built Original Clubhouse with design by Bob Hill.
1987

Building permit approved to erect a 10' x 20' outbuilding to store sails. Erectd in May.

1072 Boston Whaler and 25 hp Johnson engine purchased for use as crash boat.

Old Crash Boat sold to Mike Harvey for $100 with trailer (no motor) in November

1999

www.lansingsailing.org domain name purchased by Mac Spica on behalf of LSC on November 20, 1999.

First webpage for LSC created and maintained by Mac Spica

2004 Manitou Pontoon Boat and Four-Stroke Motor purchased to serve as Committee Boat.
2005 Old Yellow Pontoon Committee Boat and motor sold on May 7.
2006

LSC creates account at Register.com on January 6, 2006 and the Club's domain name is transferred into this account.

New motor purchased for the Safety Boat.

2007

LSC sends Annual Dues/Fees Statements to members by email for the first time (except one is mailed to Sid Mook - the only member without email).

New main dock purchased and installed late September.
