"Wind
Dancer" Team Goes Three for Three Sunday |
"Wind Dancer" measuring the start line
|
There
were some interesting moments with wind shifts - but the
"Wind Dancer" crew of Pat Dolan, Gil Chesbro and
Anna Hamilton came out on top in all three races run Sunday.
An 8 to 10 mph breeze, generally from the South, made sailing
a pleasure during a beautiful day to be on the water. Five
Lightnings turned out to sail a good windward leeward course
set by Race Committee Mike Moody and Lisa Winters.
Neil Harrison was
pleased with his day, ending up with two thirds and a second.
Alanna Harvey and John Quensen sailed with Neil. Merrick Hurlbutt,
with Adrianne Tuttle and Scott Watkins crewing, had a good
day too with a fourth, second and third.
Larry Koster and
Tom Rasmussen, sailing without using a spinnaker, nevertheless
had a second in the first race and a fourth in race two before
heading in to port. Don Baron fixed his Windex before the race,
and had a very good first leg in race two. On the downwind
leg however, he tried to pass Koster to windward and ended
up having to sail away from the rhumb line to keep clear as
Larry exercised leeward rights. Don had problems with the spinnaker
halyard and ended up 5-5-4 for the day.

Celebrate Labor
Day at LSC |
Some LSC members enjoying Labor Day at the
Club
|
Thanks to the Pratts for organizing
a Labor Day picnic at the Lansing Sailing Club that was enjoyed
by nineteen members and a guest on a beautiful summer day with
temps in the low 80s.
The group enjoyed
a picnic, then turned their attention to a Scavenger Hunt that
took them all around the lake. Loeschers and Pratts walked
off with a first prize trophy of a flamingo inflatable toy. They
got 13 of 14 items in the hunt. The Clarke-Harvey team was second.
Bill, Ed and Walter keep a close eye on the brats
|
The brats were excellent, thanks
to the tender care of grillmeisters Bill Pratt, Ed Clarke and
Walter DeGruyter. It was good to see the Austins, and Sid Mook.
Fletchers left before the Scavenger Hunt to see their daughter
off to France at Detoit Metro.
It was a great way to bring
the official summer seaon to an end. Even though Fall is now
here, sailing continues at LSC for one more Wednesday evening
and on Sundays until docks come out in mid-October.

there were some extra LSC burgees left over. Contact Neil if
