    Just barely crossing

"You missed a very nice night of sailing on Lake Lansing," was Doug Carlson's message waiting for your editor when he signed on to his email. "While the wind was blowing close to 15 MPH when folks were arriving and setting up, the wind settled down to 8-10 MPH for the first race and got lighter as the evening progressed. But it stayed solid all evening and we got four fast races in and were heading off the water at 8:00PM.

Reports were that we had so many at Spag's afterward that they divided us into two separate table groupings and hostess.

There were some great pictures taken by Stephen. See all of them on the LSC web page at www.lansingsailing.org.

Results will be posted soon on the LSC web site at www.lansingsailing.org. Go to the Racing page and click your favorite fleet emblem.

Cole Baar Returns to Lake Lansing

    Cole

Cole Baar joined in the Laser sailing on Lake Lansing Wednesday with a solid 6-5-2-4 performance. Welcome back Cole.

Doug Carlson led the Laser fleet with three wins and a third. Olav Messerschmidt hit for the cycle with a 4-2-1-3. Mike Moody added two second place finishes to his total and George Siegle grabbed the other two third place spots.

The Laser Regatta is next for these sailors - this Saturday. The skipper's meeting is a 9:30 and racing is scheduled to begin at 10.

Moonlight Sail Friday - Come Early to BBQ - Dessert at 8

Some members were talking about coming earlier than usual (about 7) to the Moonlight Sail this Friday to enjoy a BBQ. Bring your own food to BBQ - but there is plenty of charcoal and lighter.

Dessert is at 8 for those who want to join in at that point. Bring a small dessert item to share. The moon rises early and the weather report says clear skies - so, with just a little wind, it should be a perfect evening.

A New Face In The Sunfish Fleet

    Sunfish starting

Jonathan Ahlbrand found a Sunfish to sail Wednesday and joined in the racing. A third place finish in the second race was an excellent result among that competition.

John Fishbeck kept up his torrid pace with three firsts and a third. Neil Harrison was also sailing very well, posting a 2-4-2-1 evening.

Jim Fletcher got back in the Sunfish saddle to add two second place finishes while Dave Vietti and Alanna Harvey had the remaining thirds.

July Fourth a Fun Time at LSC

Cooking up a day of fun

The Allswedes, Longos and Fletchers set an example Tuesday of how to put together a fun day. Lots of people showed up for a picnic highlighted by cooked peppers and onions with the brats. Jim Fletcher got everyone involved in games - either participating or being entertained.

On the water fun was a game of poker, with sailors exchanging cards at two locations trying for the best hand.

Some folks even came back at night for the fireworks display.

Lots of pictures are on the LSC web site. Enjoy them at www.lansingsailing.org.
