Limited to sailing schools that LSC members have attended and felt were very worthwhile.
Michigan State University Sailing Center
Located on Lake Lansing, the MSU Sailing Center offers memberships as well as sailing classes. They have an excellent "learn to sail" program using MSU sailboats.
JWorld
JWorld received the highest rating in a recent survey of sailing schools. They have bases in Annapolis, Key West and San Diego. Learn to sail, racing and cruising courses are all available.
Colgate Offshore Sailing School
A highly rated sailing school with headquarters on Captiva Island, Florida -- but offering classes at many sites. Learn to sail and racing courses are taught on 26' Colgate Sailboats. They also offer a range of cruising courses. Some courses are for women only.
Kolius Sailing Schools
America's Cup Skipper John Kolius offers a high quality sailing school centered in Houston, Texas. Emphasis is on Laser and Vanguard racing.
Rick White's Sailing Seminars
Excellent sailing seminars at Rick's base in Key Largo and other locations.

Certifications

Sailing - Level 1
This certification is necessary before obtaining certification for the use of a Club owned Sunfish in light winds (up to about 8 mph).

Sailing - Level 2
This certification is necessary before obtaining certification for the use of a Club owned Sunfish, Laser
or Lightning in winds up to a "gentle breeze" (up to about 12 mph).

Sunfish Sailing
This certification is necessary to sail a Club Sunfish.

Laser Sailing
This certification is necessary to sail a Club Laser.

Lightning Sailing
This certification is necessary to sail a Club Lightning.
